Tonya Hughes, M.A.
Tonya earned her Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2010 and became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist by the State of Wisconsin in 2013.
Tonya has had significant training in working with children, adolescents and families who have experienced abuse and trauma. In July, 2016, she completed a year-long Learning Collaborative in the Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for children and adolescents.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, her treatment approach focuses on how our emotional, physical, mental and spiritual health work together for the wellness of the person. She believes that our relationships, past and present, deeply impact our emotional health and that by understanding relationship patterns we are able to change, heal and move forward.
An area of special interest to Tonya is the field of adoption. As an adoptee and an adoptive mother, Tonya is able to offer special insight and compassion to those who have been affected by the adoption triad.
Other issues that Tonya has addressed in therapy include depression, anxiety, stress management, unhealthy boundaries, lack of assertiveness, low self-esteem, problems with anger, and marital issues.
As a therapist who has recently joined Clinic for Christian Counseling, Tonya is excited to combine her passion for Jesus Christ, the Bible and her work as a Christian therapist to support and encourage those she serves.
Tonya's words of encouragement: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." Romans 3:23-24
